PEMPHIGOIDS:

pemphigoids


disorder characterized by the eruption of multiple , tense bullae either over an erythematous or normal skin in an elderly patient.

  • Age Old: ( 6-8 decades)
  • General Health: Good
  • Site : Flexural ( thigh, flexural of arms, axilla, groins)
  • Mouth Ulcers: Rare
  • Nature of Blisters: Large and tense over normal, urticarial or erythematous base. Localised or widespread. Rupture and show tendency to heal.
  • Self limiting lesions
  • Antibodies: IgGAb at BM zone

Variants:

  1. Vesicular pemphigoid
  2. Localised bullous pemphigoid
  3. Vegetans- massive purulent, verrucous, vegetative plaques.
  4. Nodular: linear bullous dermatosis, EpidermolysisBullosaAcquisite.

Diagnosis:

  • Clinical
  • Histopathology
  • Immunofloresence.

Treatment:

Topical :

  • Corticosteroid
  • Antibiotic

Systemic :

  • Prednisolone 40-60 mg
  • Antihistaminics

Prognosis: good
